Alexander | Baby portraiture

After a super-busy Holiday season, I’m finally able to take a quick moment to update the blog and want to share a few favorites from Alexander’s session.  At 7 months old, he was already quite interested in the world around him and I really enjoyed getting to play with him in the studio.  I loved his curiousity and happy smile (despite the teething!) and how laid-back he was during his entire session – what a cutie!

I have been dying to share a few of my favorites from baby Ben’s 3 month session, but I wanted to wait until Mom and Dad had seen them first.  Please bear with me while I gush over these images and tell you how much I love this family!

babyLast year I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Miss Abigail at Duke Gardens (see portrait below) and creating a keepsake coffee table book for her family, along with a wall portrait of one of my most-favorite  photographs to date.  She recently became a big sister and I have been eagerly awaiting the chance to photograph baby Ben ever since.

Not about to be out-done by his sister, Ben turned on the baby charm full blast during his session with me and I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a 3 month old with quite this many different expressions!  Looking at his portraits just makes me happy and I hope his family feels the same way.  I’m looking forward to photographing Abigail and Ben together  soon and I know there will be lots of smiles and laughter then, too… and not just from the kiddos, either.

If my first session of the New Year is any indication, this year is gonna be a great one!  Peyton was visiting the studio for her 6 month Baby Love Collection session and she brought along her big brother, Austin.  One look at the two of them together and I knew I’d have no trouble at all capturing their relationship – the love these two have for each other was obvious and so genuine.  To be honest, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything quite like it – they literally just enjoyed being together and Austin was just so sweet with her.  After a few different poses, I recognized that Austin was beginning to lose interest in this whole “portrait session” thing and I really wanted to try one more pose.  I let him know if I could get just three more shots, I’d be done.  He reluctantly agreed and then did the sweetest thing ever:  he slipped his arms around his little sister, scooped her gently up into his lap and then in his best “stick with me, kid” voice said, “Come on, Peyton, we’re almost done.”  My. Heart.  Melted.
